Meier Architecture • Engineering is a full-service architectural and engineering company and has the professional staff, support personnel, equipment to assure that quality documents will be prepared consistently for any single or multi-discipline engineering project. The scope of services provided is tailored to meet the individual project's needs.
The importance of completing projects on time and within budget is emphasized. Meier Architecture • Engineering establishes a scope of work and cost prior to starting each task and will work within that estimate and its committed schedule. Evidence of our ability to work within tight project schedules has been demonstrated on a number of the representative projects presented.
Our staff has successfully completed numerous projects of all types and sizes and for a variety of facility types, including schools, office buildings, fire stations, healthcare, and industrial buildings. Our scope of services typically includes conceptual planning and cost estimating, preparation of construction drawings and specifications, and construction administration assistance.

Steve Anderson - PresidentMr. Anderson joined the firm in 1988, and has worked in all facets of the organization, from design lead, IT manager, program manager, senior project manager, and in June of 2006 was appointed President. In the first year of his presidency he played a key role in successfully completing a majority ownership transition of the company to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Mr. Anderson is responsible for the technical and financial management of the organization. His other community and state involvements are; President of the Tri-city Local Business Association, board memberships on the Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) foundation and serves on the Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB) for the State of Washington. |

Denise Sweeden - Director of MarketingMs. Sweeden has over 20 years of progressive experience in administrative roles. As Director of Marketing and Chief Administrative Officer, she provides leadership and is responsible for the firm’s business development, human resources, administration and information services. With marketing the firm as Denise's primary focus, she is responsible for the implementation and management of its marketing program that meets or exceeds the firm’s strategic plan. |

Rick Giberson, AIA, LEED AP - Director of ArchitectureMr. Giberson serves as the firm's Director of Projects and oversees the technical quality of all Meier projects. He is a licensed architect with more than 23 years of experience designing and managing projects. Areas of experience include commercial, industrial, retail, healthcare, light manufacturing, municipal, wineries and land development. |

Paul Giever, P.E., S.E. - Structural Group Mgr.Mr. Giever has more than 19 years of civil/structural engineering related experience and currently serves as Structural Group Manager. As a Lead Engineer, he is responsible for the structural design of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures. His extensive experience includes nuclear, industrial, and commercial facilities as well as the civil design of sewer and storm water systems, other utility systems, roads, and parking lots. Other areas of expertise include the structural design of multi-level buildings, rehabilitation of trusses, civil design of roads and parking lots, and foundation designs for pre-engineered metal buildings. He has also been involved in designing normal and seismic loads of commercial buildings, schools, and healthcare and plan checking of steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and highway bridge structures. |

Paul Knutzen, P.E. - Civil Group Mgr.Mr. Knutzen has extensive experience in Civil Engineering and has been a Project Manager on numerous residential, commercial, and industrial land development projects. In addition to his land development background, he has worked with various municipal agencies, managing public storm drain, street, sewer, and water projects. Additionally, Mr. Knutzen has worked on projects including educational and military facilities. His experience encompasses preparation of grading and drainage plans, water systems, sewer systems, detention/retention basin design, street light plans, street/road plans, photometric studies, SWPPP permitting, erosion control, signing and striping, cost estimating, traffic control plans and drainage studies. |

Gary Fleming - Senior Project Mgr.Mr. Fleming has over 22 years of experience in the civil engineering industry. He is currently responsible for project management and civil and structural designs of educational, commercial, and industrial buildings and facilities. Duties include project management, analysis and design, developing construction documents, estimating, construction observation, and construction administration. He is experienced in applying the building and other various codes during the design process. |

Steve Palmrose, P.E.- Federal Group Mgr.Mr. Palmrose has more than 33 years of experience in design, construction and maintenance projects. His responsibilities include civil/structural design, engineering project management, and construction. His construction experience includes field engineering, craft supervision, estimating and construction management of both self-performed construction and subcontract administration. |

Jay Ashbaugh, P.E.- Mechanical Group Mgr.Mr. Ashbaugh is a licensed professional engineer with experience in commercial, industrial, pulp and paper, and other industries. His background includes mechanical design, installation and field engineering and is specialized in mechanical systems design and engineering. His engineering responsibilities include project management, equipment design and layout, cost estimates, engineering calculations, and equipment installation. Other areas of experience include piping design, plumbing design, HVAC design, DOE projects, DOD projects, irrigation, engineered fiber products, food process, and equipment layout. |

Steve Strickland - Commercial Electrical Group Mgr.Mr. Strickland offers more than 20 years of experience in electrical engineering and design. He currently serves as the Electrical Discipline Manager and is responsible for electrical and lighting analyses, design of electrical systems, and development of control systems for municipal, industrial, and commercial facilities. Work includes design of power distribution systems, determination of lighting layouts and fixture selections, and review of designs for code compliance. He has generated electrical designs for nuclear and commercial processing facilities, including process control schematics and facilities P&ID drawings. In addition, Mr. Strickland has knowledge and experience with the application of the latest edition of the National Electrical and other NFPA codes, as well as ADA compliance issues. |
